ICC Women’s ODI rankings: Smriti Mandhana jumps to No.4 among batters

India’s Smriti Mandhana has gained 2 places to No.4 in the latest ICC rankings for batters in Women’s ODIs. England’s Nat Sciver Brunt, Sri Lanka’s Chamari Athapaththu and Australia’s Beth Mooney are the top 3 batters in ODIs.

Mandhana replaced Proteas Women’s Laura Wolvaardt, who slipped to fifth in the rankings after a disappointing outing in the ODI series against Australia. Opening the batting against Alyssa Healy and Co. Wolvaardt scored only 7 runs at an average of 2.33.

Ashleigh Gardner dropped 3 places down to No.22, while Phoebe Litchfield also slipped 2 places. Tahlia McGrath gained 4 places up to No.30 in the batting rankings.

Mandhana last played ODIs in the bilateral series against Australia where she scored 63 runs at an average of 31.50 with scores of 34 and 29 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Mandhana is now set to take part in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024 where she represents the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

Kim Garth gains big

South Africa’s Eliz-Mari Marx gained 34 places to No.75 in the ICC rankings for Women’s ODI all-rounders. Australia’s Kim Garth also climbed to No.36 after gaining 8 places in the rankings.

Alana King and Garth also gained 4 and 5 places to No.19 and No.21 respectively. Marizanne Kapp remains the world no.1 all-rounder. India’s Deepti Sharma moved a place up to No.5 in the rankings. Gardner slipped to No.6 after losing 4 places.

Kapp, in the meantime, jumped 7 places to No.2 and is only behind England’s Sophie Ecclestone in the ODI bowling rankings. Garth gained 10 places up to No.29 in the rankings.

India’s Deepti Sharma dropped to No.4 after losing 1 place in the rankings. Kate Cross and Hayley Matthews also moved 2 places up.
