Former England batter Kevin Pietersen has hailed Heinrich Klaasen as the best T20I batter after the South Africa wicketkeeper once again shone with the bat for the Durban Super Giants in the SA20. Klaasen played a heroic 74-run knock in the second qualifier against the Joburg Super Kings on Thursday, February 8.
The right-handed batsman scored 74 runs off 30 balls with a strike rate of 246.67 in an innings that included seven sixes and three boundaries. Klassen also shared a 101-run stand with Wiaan Mulder for the fifth wicket, helping his team recover from 95/4.
“There isn’t a better batter in T20 cricket in the world! Klaasen is the BOSS,” Pietersen tweeted.
Klaasen was on 15 from 13 deliveries before overpowering the Super Kings bowlers. Doug Bracewell ultimately got up to him at the long-off boundary. Klaasen is the second-highest run-scorer in the ongoing South African Twenty20, with 447 runs in 12 innings at a strike rate of 208.87. The South African batsman will try to continue his outstanding success for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the upcoming Indian Premier League season.
Klaasen and Wiaan Mulder put in a strong performance to help the Durban’s Super Giants post 211 for 6 in their allotted 20 overs against Joburg Super Kings on Thursday.
The Qualifier 2 winner will face defending champions Sunrisers Eastern Cape in the SA20 final in Cape Town on Saturday (February 10).
