Can one truly claim to have lived out their childhood as a cricket enthusiast if they haven’t indulged in mimicking the iconic bowling styles of legendary pacers such as Shoaib Akhtar, Zaheer Khan, or Brett Lee? Times have indeed evolved, witnessing a delightful shift where foreign players now emulate the distinctive actions of Indian pacers. This transformation owes its gratitude to the emergence of highly skilled Indian fast bowlers who have left an indelible mark on the global cricketing stage.

A video was doing rounds on social media where a young England cricketer could be seen bowling but what caught everybody’s attention was his bowling action. The young cricketer had a run-up similar to that of Bumrah and his bowling action matched the quirky style with which the India pacer bowls. Call it the young player’s skill or Bumrah’s action that he managed to dismiss the other young batter caught behind. The Bumrah effect on the English players, whether domestic or international, is quite evident.

The County Championship shared the video on ‘X’ and captioned it, “How’s this for an impression of Jasprit Bumrah’s bowling?” The video drew parallels by putting Bumrah and the young player’s clips together.

Notably, Bumrah became the 1st ever Indian pacer to be ranked No. 1 in the ICC Test bowler’s ranking. The speedster rose from the No. 3 position to the top spot on the back of his stellar bowling performance during the 2nd Test match against England.

India won the Vizag Test by 106 runs as Bumrah was adjudged the Player of the Match for his spectacular match figures of 9 for 81, which are his 2nd-best Test match figures. India’s pace spearhead picked up his 10th 5-wicket haul in the 1st innings as he claimed 6 wickets by giving away 45 runs.

These figures are the best by an Indian pacer at home. The 30-year-old was on a record-breaking spree as he also became the fastest Indian pacer to take 150 Test wickets in 34 games. India’s pace-spearhead’s high arm and action and short run-up caused trouble for a ‘Bazballing’ England side in the 2nd Test match. The batters found themselves clueless of the reverse-swinging deliveries bowled by the speedster.

After decimating his teammate Ravichandran Ashwin to reach the No. 1 ranking in Tests, Bumrah became only the 2nd Indian player after Virat Kohli to be ranked No. 1 across all formats.
